The Meadow Pipit (Anthus pratensis) nests in most areas in the northern part of Eurasia, but also on the northeastern and southeastern Greenland. Most of the world population are migratory birds that winter in western and southern Europe, northern Africa and Southeast Asia. The population that breeds in Ireland, the UK and western European coastal areas, are however resident birds.
The Meadow Pipit breeds in moist meadows and pastures, in moors and mountain scenery.
The bird feed during the summer months mainly on small diurnal insects and spiders of all kinds, in the winter with addition of small shells and seeds.
