The Red-backed Shrike
(Lanius collurio) is migratory. The bird breeds in much of Europe, north to Scotland, Sweden and southern Finland. In Southern Europe it is missing in most of the Iberian Peninsula. Outside Europe the bird nests in western Siberia, the Urals to the Altai Mountains and the Near East, where the southern and eastern Anatolia to the north-western and northern Iran. Red-backed Shrike winters in eastern and southern Africa.
