Hummingbird


Hummingbirds are birds native to the Americas and constituting the biological family Trochilidae. They occur from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego, but the vast majority of the species is found in the tropics. They are small birds, with most species measuring 7.5–13 cm (3–5 in) in length.

The red-billed streamertail (Trochilus polytmus), also known as the doctor bird, scissor-tail or scissors tail hummingbird, is indigenous to Jamaica, where it is the most abundant and widespread member of the hummingbird family.
