Ruff (Philomachus pugnax) is a migratory bird that breeds in wetlands in the colder regions of northern Eurasia and spends the period when the northern hemisphere is winter in the tropics, mostly in Africa. Some populations that breed in Siberia conducts an annual trip to 30.000 km, one way to winter quarters in West Africa.
The most significant and spectacular of Ruffs are the males variegated splendor of plumage which they already starts to grow when they return to breeding grounds from early April.
The Ruff eats small insects and worms, sometimes corn.
