The Crested grebe (Podiceps cristatus is widely distributed and is found in much of the Palearctic, a number of places in Africa, mainly in southern and eastern Africa, in Australia and New Zealand. Most of the world population are migratory birds, but most are short-migratory.
The Crested grebe nests in the reed-filled lakes, and vegetated bays of brackish water. The nest is a floating platform of reeds and other aquatic plants.
The birds eats aquatic insects and small fish.
