The Green Woodpecker (Picus viridis) is a bird that occurs in the west, and southwest Asia, and in most of Europe except on some islands in the north and is one of the most common woodpeckers in Europe.
Green Woodpeckers nest in deciduous forest and in particular in areas with large clearings and open landscape with few trees and groves. They use nesting holes abandoned by other woopeckers.
Green Woodpeckers search their feeding almost exclusively on the ground, mostly ants.
